Job Description
Position Summary:
This person will be responsible for designing and performing a variety of molecular biology and protein related research experiments and laboratory related tasks, making detailed observations, analyzing data, and interpreting results.
Essential Functions:
- Design and execute experiments supporting assay development for multiple antibody engineering projects
- Develop standard operating procedures for antibody screening using Affomix’s proprietary technology
- Cross-functionally interface with research and development teams to support successful product development
- Other tasks as reasonably requested
Skills/Requirements:
- Bachelor/Master level degree in a biology related field with 5-10 years experience in a molecular biology/protein sciences laboratory setting
- Extensive experience with protein expression and purification from microbial and/or mammalian cells, Western blots, ELISA, flow cytometry, microbial genetics
- Extensive molecular biology experience, including subcloning, site directed mutagenesis, various forms of PCR-based gene amplification and assembly, vector design and primer design
- Experience with SPR technology and data analysis
- Ability to overcome technical challenges in a fast paced, commercial environment
- Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary team setting
- Ability to work independently to accomplish goals
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Desired:
- Experience purifying different proteins using multiple purification techniques
- Employment experience in a biotechnology or life sciences company
